The Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack-mount server built around a single Intel Gold 6132 processor running at 2.6 GHz with 14 cores and 19.25 MB cache. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 memory arranged as four 16 GB PC4-2666 modules. Four 7.68 TB SAS SSDs and an H730P RAID controller provide high-capacity flash storage out of the box.

Expansion and Connectivity Foundation

The chassis offers eight 2.5-inch drive bays, leaving four bays open for additional SAS SSDs. Up to eight PCIe Gen 3 slots support extra network, storage or accelerator cards. An integrated Intel X550 network daughter card delivers two 10 Gb RJ45 ports and two 1 Gb RJ45 ports for flexible LAN connectivity. Dual 1100 W redundant power supplies maintain uptime during a module failure.
