The Dell PowerEdge R740 fits two Intel Silver 4210R processors running at 2.4 GHz, each with ten cores and 13.75M cache. Memory is populated with eight 16 GB DDR4 modules at 2666 MT/s for a total of 128 GB. Four 480 GB SATA SSDs sit behind an H730P RAID controller in a chassis that accepts up to eight 2.5-inch drives.

Sustained load with redundant power and remote

Dual 1100 W redundant supplies keep the system running if one unit fails. The iDRAC9 Enterprise controller provides out-of-band monitoring and control even when the operating system is unresponsive. Network I/O uses an Intel X550 adapter delivering two 10 Gb RJ45 ports and two 1 Gb RJ45 ports for continuous traffic.
