Dual Silver 4210R 10-core platform

The Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 fits in a 2U rack space and ships with two Intel Silver 4210R processors, each running at 2.4 GHz with ten cores and 13.75 MB cache. It is aimed at organisations that need dense compute for virtualisation, database or mixed workloads in a standard rack cabinet.

Eight 2.5-inch SAS bays with H730P

The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch drive bays populated with 300 GB 10K SAS drives and an H730P RAID controller. Storage expansion is limited to those eight bays, so total raw capacity cannot exceed the installed drives without replacing them or adding external enclosures.

Redundant 1100 W supply and iDRAC9 Enterprise

A redundant 1100 W power supply and iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management are included, allowing lights-out administration and continued operation if one supply fails. Up to eight PCIe Gen 3 slots and an Intel X550 network daughter card with two 10 Gb RJ45 and two 1 Gb RJ45 ports provide I/O flexibility, while rails and power cords simplify rack installation.
