The DELL VKY5X is a 1100W rack-type unit built for 15G and 16G PowerEdge servers. It accepts DC input and uses a reverse-airflow design with a 60mm fan to match chassis cooling paths. The power supply is new and has been tested with updated firmware. It targets integrators maintaining or expanding compatible Dell infrastructure.

DC Input and Reverse Airflow Constraints

This unit requires a DC power source rather than standard AC mains, limiting it to environments that already provide DC distribution. The reverse-airflow layout pulls air from the rear toward the front, so it only fits chassis designed for that flow direction. It cannot be used in typical ATX cases or AC-fed racks without external conversion equipment.

1100W Capacity for XR-Series Nodes

Rated at 1100W, the VKY5X supports Dell PowerEdge XR11, XR12, XR4000R, XR4000Z and XR8000R platforms. It delivers sufficient headroom for dense compute nodes with multiple processors and accelerators. Deployments needing higher per-unit wattage or AC input will require a different power supply architecture.
