This adapter converts a PCIe X4, X8 or X16 slot into an M.2 Key M socket for NVMe solid-state drives. It accepts 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 form factors and is aimed at desktop builders who need to add fast NVMe storage to a board without a native M.2 slot. The included heatsink helps keep drive temperatures lower during sustained workloads.

Upgrade from SATA or missing M.2

The card replaces a SATA SSD or a mechanical drive by letting you install a PCIe NVMe drive directly in a motherboard expansion slot. The performance jump is worthwhile when the CPU, motherboard slot and SSD all support PCIe 4.0, delivering up to 64 Gbps bandwidth; on older platforms the card falls back to PCIe 3.0 or 2.0 speeds.
