Drive Tray Compatibility

This tray is a replacement caddy designed for ICY DOCK MB993 Series mobile rack backplanes. It accepts 2.5 inch SATA and SAS hard drives or solid-state drives. The unit suits server administrators who need a spare or additional carrier for hot-swap bays. Builders using other backplane families cannot use this tray.

Sustained Operation Behaviour

The tray passes drive I/O directly to the backplane without added electronics. Thermal performance and sustained throughput therefore match the installed drive and the host backplane design. No onboard controller or firmware alters latency during extended workloads. The metal frame aids heat transfer to the chassis airflow path.

Installation Notes

The tray slides into the front of a compatible MB993 backplane and locks with a built-in latch. No tools or screws are required for the tray itself. Drives mount inside the tray using the standard four screw holes on the drive bottom. Misaligned screws or oversized drive labels can prevent the tray from seating fully.
