The Intel Xeon Platinum 8454H delivers 32 cores and 64 threads at a 2.1 GHz base frequency, reaching 3.4 GHz max turbo. Built on 10 nm Sapphire Rapids architecture, it targets multi-socket servers handling virtualisation, database and high-performance workloads that scale across up to eight sockets. The 82.5 MB L3 cache supports heavy parallel throughput.

DDR5 memory subsystem limits

Eight memory channels run DDR5 at up to 4800 MT/s with one DIMM per channel, dropping to 4400 MT/s when two DIMMs populate a channel. Maximum supported capacity is 4 TB. PCIe 5.0 provides 80 lanes for high-bandwidth accelerators, storage and networking. The 270 W thermal design power requires robust server-grade cooling; no cooler is included.

Capacity headroom and constraints

The processor comfortably fits large in-memory databases, dense virtual-machine fleets and multi-node simulation jobs within its 4 TB memory ceiling and 80 PCIe lanes. Workloads demanding more than eight sockets, memory speeds above 4800 MT/s, or integrated graphics must look elsewhere. Single-thread latency-sensitive tasks gain less from the high core count.
