Granite Rapids 32-core server processor

The Intel Xeon 6738P delivers 32 cores and 64 threads in an FCLGA 4710 package built on 3 nm manufacturing technology. Base frequency runs at 2.9 GHz with all-core turbo reaching 4.1 GHz and maximum single-core turbo at 4.2 GHz. Designed for multi-socket scalability up to eight sockets, it targets dense compute clusters and virtualised infrastructure workloads.

144 MB L3 cache and DDR5-6400 controller

A shared 144 MB L3 cache reduces inter-core latency while the integrated memory controller supports DDR5 at 6400 MT/s across eight channels for up to 4 TB total capacity. PCI Express 5.0 provides 88 lanes for high-bandwidth accelerators, storage arrays and networking adapters. Four UPI links at 24 GT/s enable coherent 4S and 8S topologies without external switches.

Thermal design power of 270 watts

The 270 W TDP demands robust liquid or high-airflow cooling solutions not included in the processor-only package. Memory bandwidth scales with populated channels, so partially filled configurations will not reach peak throughput. Workloads requiring more than 88 PCIe lanes or single-thread frequencies beyond 4.2 GHz will hit platform limits.
