TFX Power Supply for SFF Upgrades

This myVolts TFX unit delivers a continuous 350 W and peaks at 420 W for slimline and small-form-factor desktops. It is built to replace AcBel pc 8046 and PC8046 power supplies rated from 200 W up to 350 W. The 20+4 pin motherboard connector, 4-pin CPU connector, two Molex, one floppy and two SATA plugs cover the typical drives and boards found in these chassis. Input voltage ranges from 100 V to 240 V for worldwide use.

Installation Notes and Common Issues

The TFX form factor slides into the same mounting points as the original AcBel unit, so no case modification is required. An 80 mm double-ball-bearing fan provides airflow, but cable routing in tight SFF interiors can block the intake if the loom is not dressed carefully. The fixed cable set includes a floppy connector that many modern boards no longer use; tie it back to avoid snagging the fan blades. Verify that the 4-pin CPU plug reaches the socket without tension, as some layouts place it near the rear I/O shield.

Practical Limits of the TFX Standard

The 350 W continuous rating caps the total system draw, so high-end discrete graphics cards or multi-drive arrays will exceed the budget. Peak output of 420 W handles short spikes only and cannot sustain heavy loads. The single 80 mm fan must move all waste heat through a narrow chassis, so ambient temperature and case ventilation become limiting factors. Builders needing more than two SATA devices or a 6-pin PCIe connector will find this unit insufficient.
