Four-socket Xeon platform

The Supermicro SYS-8048B-TRFT is a 4U rack server built around four Intel Xeon E7-4850 v4 processors, each running at 2.1 GHz with 16 cores. It ships with 768 GB of DDR4 2400 MHz registered ECC memory across 96 DIMM slots. Twenty-four front-accessible 3.5-inch hot-swap bays accept SAS or SATA drives for high-capacity storage.

Upgrade from dual-socket or DDR3 systems

Moving from a two-socket server or an older DDR3 platform adds two additional CPUs and doubles the memory channel count. The jump is worth it when workloads such as in-memory databases, virtualization hosts or large-scale analytics need more cores and a larger memory footprint than a dual-socket chassis can provide.

Dense storage and 10 GbE in one chassis

The integrated LSI MegaRAID 9361-8i controller manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across the 24 drive bays. Dual 10GBase-T ports on the Intel X540 adapter handle high-throughput networking. Four 1620 W platinum power supplies deliver redundant power. IPMI 2.0 with dedicated LAN enables remote KVM and virtual media. Front bezel and rack rails are not included.
