4-Bay Rackmount NAS for Enterprise Workloads

The Synology RS1626xs+ is a 1U rackmount NAS built around an Intel Xeon D-1726 processor with 16GB DDR4 ECC memory. It ships fully assembled and tested with four 4TB enterprise drives for 16TB of raw storage plus 800GB of NVMe cache. The platform targets organisations running virtualization, backup, surveillance or heavy file-sharing workloads that require guaranteed uptime.

Dual 10GbE Ports and PCIe Expansion

Two 10GbE RJ-45 LAN ports and a dedicated 1GbE management port provide high-throughput networking without extra cards. Front-access drive bays support hot-swap replacement while dual M.2 NVMe slots and a PCIe Gen4 x8 slot remain available for future cache or connectivity upgrades. Redundant C13 to C14 power cords connect to the 100-240 VAC supply for continuous operation.

Scales Beyond Four Drives with Expansion Units

The four-bay chassis can grow to 16 drives by attaching a compatible Synology expansion unit, letting capacity increase without migrating data to a larger appliance. Organisations that need more than four drive bays today should consider a higher-bay model instead. The jump is worth it when 10GbE throughput, ECC memory and DSM snapshot replication are required now but raw capacity will grow later.
