Portable NVMe enclosure for external storage
The Thermalright HR-EB118 turns a compatible M.2 NVMe SSD into a USB-C drive with 10 Gbps bandwidth. It supports M.2 sizes 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 up to 8 TB and works with Windows, Mac OS, Linux, iOS and Android. The aluminium body measures 110 x 35 x 11 mm and weighs about 77 g.
Passive cooling and bus-powered operation
A CNC aluminium housing and two thicker thermal pads conduct heat away from the SSD during extended transfers. The enclosure draws power from the host USB 3.2 Gen 2 port, so no external adapter is required. Two cables — USB-C to C and USB-A to C — are included for broad device compatibility.
NVMe-only M.2 key support
This model accepts M Key and B+M Key PCIe NVMe drives only; it does not support SATA M.2 SSDs. Buyers with SATA-based M.2 drives or drives larger than 8 TB will need a different enclosure.

Vragen over dit artikel
How do I install the NVMe SSD into the HR-EB118 enclosure and what step is often missed?
Remove the cover, select the standoff matching your drive length (2230, 2242, 2260 or 2280), insert the SSD at an angle, secure it with the provided screw, apply one of the thicker thermal pads onto the controller side, then close the case.
What maintenance or replacement will the HR-EB118 need over time?
The two included thermal pads may lose conductivity after prolonged heavy use; replacing them with pads of similar thickness restores optimal heat transfer from the SSD to the aluminum body.
What limit appears first during sustained transfers on the HR-EB118?
The USB 3.2 Gen 2 10 Gbps interface caps real-world throughput, so sequential speeds flatten near that ceiling before the SSD or thermal throttling becomes the bottleneck.
