Capacity and fit

This 4 GB DDR4 SODIMM is built for Synology 18, 19 and 20 series NAS units. It replaces the D4NESO-2666-4G module in models such as the DS1618+, DS1819+, DS2419+II and DS920+. Buyers running a compatible 20-series, 19-series or 18-series system can install it directly.

DDR4 2666 practical limits

The module runs at 2666 MHz PC4-21300 with CL19 timing at 1.2 V. That speed ceiling is set by the memory controller in the supported Synology platforms. Adding more modules will not raise the frequency beyond 2666 MHz, and the single-rank 260-pin layout cannot be mixed with ECC or registered DIMMs.

Upgrade context

This kit upgrades a Synology NAS that shipped with less memory or a slower SODIMM. The jump is worth it when the unit handles multiple Docker containers, virtual machines or heavy file indexing and the current RAM is a bottleneck. It is not for systems outside the listed 18, 19 and 20 series or for boards that require ECC or registered memory.
