Builders of standard consumer notebooks without ECC support should choose non-ECC modules instead.

Capacity and headroom

The four-module layout fills four SO-DIMM slots to deliver 32GB total capacity, allowing large datasets, virtual machines or ZFS caches to reside in RAM. Systems limited to two slots or a lower maximum memory ceiling cannot use the full kit. The modules are backwards compatible with 2133MHz buses, so they will down-clock automatically when the platform demands it.
