The Dell PowerEdge M640 is a half-height blade server fitted with two Xeon Platinum 8158 processors running at 3.0 GHz with twelve cores each. It targets data-centre operators who need dense compute for virtualisation or high-performance workloads in a shared chassis.

48 GB DDR4 and PERC H330

Forty-eight gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed across the available slots. The PERC H330 SAS storage controller manages the two 300 GB 10K SAS drives and provides hardware RAID for redundancy or capacity pooling.

Two 2.5-inch drive bays and 1 TB ceiling

The blade accommodates only two 2.5-inch drives so local storage tops out at 600 GB with the supplied disks. Memory can scale to 1 TB for larger datasets yet the fixed drive count limits local capacity for storage-heavy applications.
