Dense 1U compute for virtualization and databases

The PowerEdge R650 packs two 28-core Xeon Gold 6330 processors running at 2.0 GHz with 3.1 GHz turbo into a single rack unit. Thirty-two DDR4 DIMMs deliver 1 TB of registered ECC memory at 2933 MT/s, expandable to 2 TB. The PERC H755 controller with 8 GB NV cache manages ten 1.8 TB 10 K SAS drives in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 or 60. A quad-port 1 GbE OCP 3.0 card and iDRAC9 Enterprise handle networking and remote management.

Memory and storage headroom

The 1 TB DDR4 configuration leaves half the 2 TB maximum available for future growth. Ten 2.5-inch bays are fully populated with 1.8 TB SAS spindles, so adding capacity requires replacing drives or moving to a larger chassis. RAID 60 on the H755 protects against dual-drive failure across large arrays, while the 8 GB NV cache absorbs write bursts before flushing to the 10 K platters. CPU turbo headroom to 3.1 GHz helps bursty database workloads.

Bundled rails, bezel and dual 1400 W supplies

ReadyRails and a front bezel are included so the server mounts immediately in standard racks. Two hot-swap 1400 W platinum power supplies provide full redundancy without extra cabling. iDRAC9 Enterprise enables out-of-band firmware updates, virtual console and telemetry streaming without an OS agent. The Broadcom 5720 OCP card occupies the mezzanine slot, leaving PCIe Gen4 risers free for additional network or accelerator cards.
