Dual 16-core Xeon server for dense virtualisation

The PowerEdge R730 fits into a 2U rack slot and ships with two Xeon E5-2683 v4 processors running at 2.1 GHz, 16 cores each, plus 768 GB of registered ECC DDR4 memory across 24 slots. It targets midsize and large enterprises running databases, VDI or HPC data nodes that need high core counts and large memory capacity in a compact form factor. The H730 controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 with a 1 GB cache and battery backup.

Eight hot-swap trays and quad-port networking free

Eight 2.5-inch SAS/SATA drive trays populate the front chassis, leaving internal PCIe slots available for additional controllers or accelerators. A daughter card provides two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports, so no extra network adapters are required for typical cluster interconnects. iDRAC 8 Enterprise gives full remote management without consuming a front-panel port.

Redundant 750 W platinum supplies handle peak loads

Two hot-swap 750 W platinum-efficiency power supplies share the load and maintain operation if one unit fails, keeping the dual-processor configuration and fully populated memory subsystem stable under sustained compute workloads. The 2U chassis uses front-to-rear airflow with variable-speed fans that ramp only when inlet temperatures rise, keeping acoustic output low in standard data-centre aisles.
