This HP ProLiant DL160 Gen9 server delivers a single quad-core Xeon E5-2623v3 processor at 3 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 memory in a 1U rack form factor. Two 146 GB 15K SAS drives connect through an H240 controller supporting RAID 0, 1 and 5. Redundant hot-swap 550 W power supplies maintain uptime in space-constrained racks.

Suits teams needing dense compute

Buyers who require dual processors from day one, more than 16 GB of installed memory, or solid-state boot devices should look elsewhere. The chassis accepts up to eight 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drives, but only two trays are populated and no SSD is included.

Although the platform supports up to 1 TB across 16 DIMM slots when a second processor is added, this unit ships with 16 GB already fitted and no free capacity until additional modules are purchased. Memory runs as DDR4 ECC registered up to 2400 MT/s depending on the processor capability.
