This OWC kit delivers 256GB across eight 32GB DDR4 2666MHz modules built to the PC4-21300 standard. Each stick is a 288-pin load-reduced DIMM with ECC, CL19 latency and 1.2V operation, designed for servers, workstations and compatible NAS systems that require registered memory with error correction.

Replaces lower-capacity or slower DDR4 LRDIMMs

The kit is backward-compatible with 2133MHz and 2400MHz DDR4 slots, so it can upgrade existing memory running at those speeds without platform changes. The jump is worth it when a workload needs the full 256GB capacity or the higher 2666MHz data rate, and the motherboard supports load-reduced ECC modules in a 4Rx4 configuration.

Fits 288-pin DDR4 server boards that accept LRDIMMs

Installation requires a platform that explicitly supports load-reduced ECC memory; it will not work with standard desktop boards or unbuffered DIMM slots. The eight-module layout fills eight DIMM slots in a dual-channel arrangement, freeing no extra slots but maximising the memory ceiling the board allows. No heat spreaders are fitted, so airflow in the chassis must handle the modules directly.
