The THREE COLOUR DOGFISH A1708 256GB internal SSD is built for the MacBook Pro A1708 models released in 2016 and 2017. It uses a PCIe 3.0 NVMe interface with 3D TLC NAND flash. The drive ships with macOS 10.13 or later pre-installed so the system is ready after the hardware swap. Sequential reads reach 2200 MB/s and writes reach 1800 MB/s.

Verify the slot and macOS version

Confirm the MacBook uses the proprietary PCIe 3.0 blade connector found in the A1708 chassis; other MacBook generations use a different pin-out and will not accept this drive.
