Capacity and purpose

The OMNIVS1500 is a 1500 VA line-interactive UPS rated at 940 watts. It provides battery backup and automatic voltage regulation for desktop computers, networking gear and other sensitive electronics connected to a 120 V supply. Five outlets deliver battery-supported power while three additional outlets supply surge protection only. A USB port enables management software communication.

Sustained-load behaviour

At full 940 watt load the internal VRLA battery provides four minutes of runtime, extending to 8.5 minutes at a 470 watt half load. The unit corrects brownouts and overvoltages across a 75 to 147 V input window without switching to battery, preserving reserve capacity for genuine outages. Recharge from 10 % to 90 % completes in under four hours. An audible alarm signals both power-failure and low-battery conditions.

Upgrade context

This model replaces smaller standby UPS units that lack automatic voltage regulation, eliminating the battery drain caused by frequent minor voltage fluctuations. It also upgrades basic surge strips by adding battery-backed outlets and data-line protection for TEL/DSL and 10/100 Ethernet connections.
