Standard desktop drives are rated for intermittent use and can struggle with the vibration and heat of a multi-bay NVR running 24 hours a day. This drive carries a workload rating of up to 180TB per year and is tested for compatibility across a broad range of security platforms. The jump is worth it when footage gaps or drive failures are not an option.

SATA interface caps peak throughput

The SATA 6.0Gb/s link limits maximum sequential transfer rates regardless of the drive's internal cache of 256MB or its 5400 RPM spindle speed. Systems needing higher sustained bandwidth for many concurrent high-resolution streams may hit this interface ceiling. Builds requiring faster random access or a smaller form factor cannot be served by this 3.5-inch SATA design.
