The PowerEdge R730xd packs two Intel Xeon E5-2680 v4 processors at 2.4 GHz with 14 cores each into a 2U rack chassis. It targets midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, e-commerce platforms, VDI or HPC data nodes that need high core counts and large memory in a compact form factor. Buyers who need GPU acceleration or single-thread frequency above 3.3 GHz will look elsewhere.

Sustained multi-thread throughput

With 28 cores and 768 GB of DDR4 2400 MHz registered ECC memory across 24 slots, the system maintains throughput for virtualised databases and heavy virtualisation workloads. The PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through, keeping twelve 8 TB 7.2K SATA drives fed during long rebuilds or sequential scans. Maximum memory capacity reaches 1.5 TB for future growth.

Redundant platinum power and remote management
