The Dell PowerEdge R740xd packs two Intel Xeon Silver 4110 processors and 64 GB of DDR4 ECC memory into a 2U rack chassis. Twenty-four drive bays support mixed SATA and SAS workloads while dual 1100 W platinum power supplies provide redundancy. The platform targets software-defined storage, virtual desktop infrastructure and service-provider deployments.

Integrated controller and networking expand options

A PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache enables RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode for direct drive access. An Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports without consuming a PCIe slot. iDRAC 9 Enterprise gives full out-of-band management including virtual console and remote firmware updates.
