Server Overview

The Dell PowerEdge T430 is a 5U tower server with optional rack conversion. It ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2695 v4 processors, each running at 2.1 GHz with 3.3 GHz Turbo across eighteen cores. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory occupy two of twelve slots. A PERC H730P controller with two gigabytes of cache manages storage.

Suitability

This system suits organisations running virtualisation, databases, file storage or backup workloads that fit within sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays. Buyers who require more than sixteen drive bays, a different processor socket, or memory capacity beyond 384 GB should look elsewhere. The included dual-port Gigabit Ethernet adapter and iDRAC 8 Express provide basic remote management and connectivity.

Storage Controller

The PERC H730P 2GB controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through for SAS and SATA drives. It uses a twelve gigabit per second interface and includes a battery for cache protection. Eight drive trays are supplied; the chassis accepts up to sixteen. Dual 750-watt platinum power supplies deliver redundant hot-swap power.
