The MSI MAG B460M MORTAR is a micro-ATX board built on the Intel B460 chipset for LGA 1200 processors. It accepts 10th generation Intel Core and Pentium Gold or Celeron CPUs. Four DDR4 slots support up to 128 GB of system memory at 2666, 2400 or 2133 MHz. Realtek ALC887 provides 7.1-channel audio and an RTL8111H controller handles Gigabit LAN.

Builder upgrading an LGA 1200 system

This board suits a builder who already owns a compatible LGA 1200 processor and needs four memory slots for high-capacity DDR4. It does not suit anyone with an LGA 1151 CPU, because the socket is physically different and the chipset is B460 rather than B360. It also does not suit a builder who requires integrated graphics output when using an F-series processor, as the video ports are disabled with those CPUs.

128 GB maximum memory capacity

The decisive specification is the 128 GB memory ceiling across four DDR4 slots. If your workload needs 128 GB of system memory this board meets that requirement. If the platform limit of 32 GB on the older B360 chipset is what your current hardware allows, this board will not work with that older processor.
