Four USB 3.0 ports via PCI Express
The EN-Labs PCE4USB-RS4 adds four USB Type-A 3.0 ports to a desktop through a single PCI Express x1 slot. It uses the NEC UPD720201 controller and is aimed at users who need more high-speed peripheral connections than the motherboard provides. The card fits full-profile brackets and works in x1, x4, x8 or x16 slots.
Fits a free PCIe slot and draws auxiliary power
Installation requires an available PCI Express slot of any width and a Molex 4-pin power connector from the power supply. The card draws supplementary power through that connector so the four ports can deliver full current without loading the slot alone. It frees up existing rear-panel ports for other devices.
Sustained 5 Gbit/s transfers
Under continuous load the controller maintains up to 5 Gbit/s per port and remains compliant with the USB 3.0 Super Speed specification. The chipset also supports USB 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0 devices at their native rates. Hot-plug operation is supported across all four ports.
