The Acasis TBU405Pro is a tool-free enclosure that accepts M.2 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 NVMe SSDs up to 8TB. It connects through Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 at 40Gbps and falls back to USB 3.2, 3.1, 3.0 and 2.0. A dual-chip JHL7440 and RTL9210B controller handles the link.

Creators and professionals who move multi-gigabyte files over a Thunderbolt 3, 4 or USB4 port will see the benefit. Buyers whose machines only offer USB 3.2 10Gbps or slower ports will not reach the enclosure's ceiling and should consider a lower-speed alternative. No AC adapter is included; the unit draws power from the host.

The single factor that determines whether this enclosure performs as intended is a host port capable of 40Gbps Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 or USB4. Without that connection the JHL7440 controller cannot deliver the 2805MB/s read and 2734MB/s write speeds measured with a Samsung 980 Pro 2TB SSD.
