The AvalonMiner 1246 87T is a Bitcoin miner built around the A12 chip that delivers a maximum hashrate of 87Th/s on the SHA-256 algorithm. It integrates the power supply into an aluminum enclosure measuring 331 x 195 x 292 mm and weighing 12.8 kg. Four 12038 fans provide active cooling and produce a noise level of 75 dB. The unit connects to the network through a single Ethernet interface.

Upgrade from lower-efficiency SHA-256 units

Replacing older SHA-256 hardware with this model raises the hashrate to 87Th/s at a power draw of 3420 W, yielding an efficiency of 38 J/TH. The jump is worth it when electricity costs allow the higher absolute power consumption to be offset by the increased throughput. The machine requires a 220 V supply capable of 16 A and operates within a voltage window up to 285 V at 50 to 60 Hz. Supplying the wrong voltage can damage the unit.
