Installation and common pitfalls

The processor drops into a compatible SP3 motherboard socket without soldering, but the 225 W thermal design power demands a server-grade cooler and airflow plan that the board vendor qualifies for this TDP. No cooling device is included in the OEM pack. Builders must also populate all eight memory channels with matched DDR4 modules to reach rated bandwidth; mixing capacities or speeds will reduce performance. BIOS support for the 7002 series must be verified before installation, otherwise the system will not post.

PCIe 4.0 and memory limits

The chip exposes 128 lanes of PCIe 4.0, enabling direct attachment of high-speed storage arrays, GPU accelerators or networking cards without a switch.
