Capacity and Headroom

The 650W rating provides ample headroom for typical line-card configurations within supported Cisco platforms. It handles normal switching and routing loads with reserve for peak traffic bursts. The unit runs out of capacity only when total chassis draw exceeds 650 watts, which is unlikely in standard deployments.

Front-to-Back Cooling Constraint

Front-to-back cooling requires the chassis to pull cool air from the cold aisle and exhaust it to the hot aisle. Installing this supply in a chassis with reversed or side-to-side airflow would cause thermal issues. The design also prevents use in enclosures that lack the matching airflow direction.
