Installation notes for integrators

The node fits into a compatible C6420 shared-infrastructure chassis and secures with the standard half-width sled mechanism. Two processor heatsinks are pre-installed, so CPU installation follows the usual socket procedure without extra mounting hardware. Common issues include forgetting to populate memory in the correct channel order and neglecting to license iDRAC9 Enterprise features if advanced remote control is required. No drive bays or backplanes are included in this bare configuration.

Capacity envelope and limits

The node supports two processor sockets and the memory capacity allowed by the chosen CPUs and DIMM population rules. Storage density depends entirely on the backplane and drive carriers selected for the enclosing chassis. Compute headroom scales with the installed processor SKUs, while I/O expansion is constrained by the shared chassis mid-plane and available PCIe slots. Without a RAID controller or onboard storage interfaces, all drive connectivity must be provided externally.
