Server Configuration

The Dell PowerEdge R540 is a 2U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon Silver 4114 processors running at 2.2 GHz with a 3.0 GHz turbo frequency. Each CPU provides 10 cores for a total of 20 cores across the system. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory installed across four 16 GB modules. The chassis occupies 2U of rack space and includes sliding rails and a front bezel for immediate installation.

Storage and Controller

Eight 3.5-inch enterprise SAS hard drives are pre-installed, each offering 8 TB capacity at 7.2K RPM. The Dell PERC H330 controller connects these drives over a 12 Gb/s SAS interface and supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50 as well as pass-through mode. This hardware RAID capability offloads parity calculations from the main CPUs and provides data redundancy options without additional software licensing. The controller also accepts SATA drives for future expansion.

Interface and Management Limits

Network connectivity is limited to two 1 Gigabit RJ45 ports provided by an integrated dual-port daughter card. Remote management is handled by iDRAC 9 Enterprise, which enables out-of-band monitoring, automation and remote administration over a dedicated connection. The server includes two hot-swap 750 W 80+ Platinum power supplies for redundancy. Maximum memory capacity reaches 1 TB across 16 DIMM slots, and the dual-socket LGA 3647 platform does not support additional processors beyond the two installed.
