1U rack server for virtualisation and databases

The Dell EMC PowerEdge R640 fits a 1U rack slot and runs two Xeon Silver 4114 processors at 2.20 GHz with 20 cores total. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory support multiple virtual machines and business applications. Eight 1.2 TB SAS hard drives connect through a Perc H740P controller with 8 GB cache for storage of operating systems, databases and backups.

Check rack space, power and memory growth

Confirm the rack can accept a 1U chassis and provides redundant hot-swap power connections. The system uses LGA 3647 sockets with both processor positions filled, so CPU upgrades are not possible.
