The PowerEdge R640 is a 1U rack server built for dense scale-out data centre computing. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4110 processors, each running at 2.1 GHz with eight cores and a 3.0 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 768 GB of DDR4 2400 MHz registered ECC memory across all 24 slots. This configuration targets organisations that need high core counts and large memory capacity in a single rack unit.

Redundant Platinum Power and Thermal Design

Two hot-swap 750 Watt platinum-efficiency power supplies provide full redundancy for continuous operation. The 1U chassis uses forced-air cooling calibrated for the dual-processor thermal envelope under typical workloads. Acoustic output is managed for rack-row deployment rather than office proximity. Power draw scales with CPU utilisation and the installed storage controller.

Eight-Bay Storage and Quad-Port Networking

The front panel holds eight 2.5-inch drive bays populated with two 400 GB SATA SSDs on a PERC H730P 2 GB controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and pass-through. A quad-port network daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ connections. iDRAC 9 Enterprise enables remote management without a local console. Rails and a front bezel are included for immediate rack mounting.
