The Dell PowerEdge R640 arrives with two Xeon Gold 5218 processors running at 2.3GHz, providing 16 cores per socket. The system includes 384GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory and a PERC H740P RAID controller. This configuration targets environments that need dense compute and large memory capacity in a 1U rack form factor.

Four 3.5-inch drive bays limit raw capacity

The chassis supports up to four 3.5-inch SATA drives, so maximum raw storage depends on the largest drives you install. The PERC H740P controller manages RAID levels across those bays. No drives are included, and the 10GbE 562T two-port adapter handles network traffic without additional cards.

Dual 750W supplies and iDRAC9 Enterprise

Redundant 750W power supplies keep the server running if one unit fails. The iDRAC9 Enterprise licence enables full remote console, virtual media and automated firmware updates. A rail kit is available on request for standard rack mounting. The integrated graphics provide basic video output for local diagnostics.
