1U dual-processor rack server

The Dell PowerEdge R650 fits a 1U rack slot and ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 6338 processors, each running at 2.0GHz with 32 cores. 1TB of DDR4 3200MHz registered ECC memory is installed across 32 DIMM slots. The PERC H755 RAID controller provides 8GB NV cache with battery backup and supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. A Broadcom 5720 quad-port 1GbE OCP 3.0 network card and iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management are included.

Pre-installation checks

Verify that your rack provides a 1U space with standard mounting rails. Confirm the facility can supply two 1400W power connections for the redundant hot-swap PSUs. Ensure your storage plan uses 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drives, as the ten front trays accept those form factors. Check that network cabling supports the quad-port 1GbE OCP 3.0 adapter. The system maxes out at two processors and 2TB of DDR4 memory.

Build integration

Ten 2.5-inch drive bays free internal space for high-density SSD or HDD arrays without occupying PCIe slots. The OCP 3.0 network card leaves standard PCIe slots available for additional accelerators or storage controllers. Dual 1400W platinum power supplies deliver redundancy while sharing the load. iDRAC9 Enterprise enables remote firmware updates, power cycling and console access, reducing the need for physical rack visits. The included ready rails and front bezel simplify mounting and airflow management.
