PowerEdge R650 1U server

The Dell PowerEdge R650 is a 1U rack server built for dense compute environments. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4310 processors, each running at 2.1GHz with 12 cores. The system includes 256GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory and a PERC H755 RAID controller with 8GB NV cache. Dual 1400W platinum power supplies and iDRAC9 Enterprise provide redundancy and remote management.

Suited for virtualization and databases

This configuration suits virtualization clusters, database workloads and private cloud deployments needing high core counts and fast SAS storage in a single rack unit. The 10-bay 2.5-inch chassis supports the included 1.8TB 10K drives and additional SAS or SATA media. Buyers who need GPU acceleration or more than two processor sockets should look at other platforms. NVMe-only storage requirements also fall outside this build.

PERC H755 RAID controller

The Dell PERC H755 PCIe RAID controller determines the storage topology. It supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 with an 8GB non-volatile cache and battery backup. The controller manages the ten 1.8TB SAS drives at 12Gb/s. Systems requiring a different RAID feature set or a non-Dell HBA must choose another server.
