The Dell PowerEdge R650xs is a 1U rack server built for compute-dense environments that need twin-socket performance in a single rack unit. It targets virtualization hosts, cloud nodes and analytics clusters where core count and memory bandwidth matter more than local storage volume. Buyers who need GPU acceleration or more than eight drive bays should look elsewhere.

Memory ceiling

The system ships with 512GB of DDR4-2666 registered ECC memory across sixteen 32GB modules and supports a maximum of 1TB. That ceiling is the single figure that decides whether the chassis can hold your working set; if your workloads exceed 1TB you will need a different platform.

Rack-ready integration

Dual 1400W platinum hot-swap supplies, iDRAC9 Enterprise, a Broadcom 57412 dual-port 10GbE SFP+ OCP 3.0 card, sliding rails and a front bezel are included. The PERC H745 controller manages the eight 600GB 10K SAS drives with 4GB NV cache and battery-backed write cache. The server occupies one rack unit and draws power from two C14 inlets.
