The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2609v3 six-core processors running at 1.9 GHz. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 memory across 24 DIMM slots and a PERC H330 RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60. The chassis provides eight hot-plug 3.5-inch drive bays for SAS or SATA drives. This configuration suits small business virtualization, file serving and database workloads that need redundant power and remote management.

Redundant 750 W supplies

Two hot-swap 750 W power supplies provide N+1 redundancy so the server remains running during a single supply failure. The integrated iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller enables agent-free monitoring, firmware updates and power control over the network without touching the rack. A Matrox G200 video chip handles basic console output while the four onboard 1 GbE ports carry production traffic. No GPU or high-speed networking is included, so the thermal load stays modest in typical office or data-centre environments.

24 DIMM slots, seven PCIe 3.0 slots and optional NDC

The platform offers 24 DDR4 DIMM slots with a processor-dependent ceiling of 1536 GB, leaving room for future memory growth beyond the installed 64 GB. Seven PCIe 3.0 expansion slots plus a dedicated PERC slot accommodate additional NICs, HBAs or accelerator cards. An optional NDC bay can add two 10 GbE plus two 1 GbE or four 10 GbE ports when higher bandwidth is required. The unit includes a power cable but ships without rails, bezel, keyboard, mouse or video cable.
