Rack server with dual Xeon processors

The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2630v3 eight-core processors running at 2.4GHz. It ships with 32GB of DDR4 memory installed across 24 DIMM slots, supporting up to 1536GB total capacity. The system includes a PERC H330 12Gbps RAID controller managing two 900GB 10K SAS drives in hot-plug bays. Dual 750W redundant power supplies provide failover protection for continuous operation.

Storage and expansion layout

Eight 2.5-inch hot-plug drive bays accept SAS or SATA drives, while the H330 controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 levels. Seven PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated PERC slot allow additional networking or acceleration cards. An iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller handles remote management out of the box, with optional Enterprise upgrades and vFlash media available. A DVD-ROM drive is included for media installation.

Sustained workload behaviour

Redundant power supplies and hot-plug drive bays let administrators replace components without shutting down the server during extended operations. The 24 DIMM slots allow memory to be scaled gradually as application demands grow beyond the factory 32GB. Four onboard 1GbE ports handle baseline network traffic, while optional 10GbE daughter cards can be added for heavier throughput. The 2U form factor fits standard racks where airflow and cable routing are managed at the cabinet level.
