Dual Xeon rack server for virtualisation clusters

The PowerEdge R730 fits into a standard 2U rack space and ships with two E5-2650 v3 ten-core processors running at 2.3 GHz, providing 40 virtual cores with hyper-threading enabled. It targets IT teams building virtualisation hosts, database nodes or high-density compute clusters that need plenty of threads in a compact form factor. The chassis accepts up to eight 2.5-inch hot-plug SAS or SATA drives and includes a DVD-ROM drive for legacy media installation.

Expandable memory and storage with redundant power

Twenty-four DDR4 DIMM slots — twelve per processor — support up to 1,536 GB of total memory, while the installed 32 GB leaves ample room for growth without discarding existing modules. The H730 RAID controller with 1 GB cache manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across the two included 1 TB 7.2 K SATA drives and any additional bays you populate. Dual 750 W hot-swap power supplies keep the system running during a single-unit failure or routine maintenance.

Sustained multi-threaded throughput in a cooled

With both CPUs active, the server delivers consistent multi-threaded performance for long-running workloads such as hypervisor scheduling, batch processing or database indexing. The 2U chassis airflow design and redundant cooling maintain stable temperatures under continuous load, while iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller provides out-of-band monitoring and remote power control without interrupting production tasks. Seven PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated PERC slot remain available for additional network or acceleration cards.
