The PowerEdge R730xd fits two Xeon E5-2699 v4 processors at 2.2 GHz with 22 cores each into a 2U rack chassis. It ships with 512 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across 16 slots, leaving eight slots open for expansion up to 1.5 TB. The PERC H730 controller manages up to 24 SAS or SATA drives in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 or 60. A quad-port network daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links.

Hot-swap 750 W platinum power supplies share the load so a single failure does not interrupt compute. ReadyRails mount the 2U unit in standard square-hole or threaded racks without tools. The bezel snaps on after the server is seated. Drive carriers populate from the front; the H730 mini mono card sits in a dedicated low-profile slot, so full-height PCIe cards require the riser option. Memory must be installed in matched sets per processor to avoid POST errors. Network daughter card occupies the integrated flex bay, limiting additional mezzanine options.
