The Dell PowerEdge R730xd is a 2U rack-mount server system designed for data-intensive workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2660 v4 processors, each running at 2.0 GHz with 14 cores and a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency. The chassis supports up to 24 hot-swap 2.5-inch drives and includes redundant 750-watt power supplies. It is built for midsize and large enterprise environments running databases, virtual desktop infrastructure, or high-performance computing nodes.

PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache

The storage subsystem centres on a Dell PERC H730 controller with 1 GB of battery-backed cache. It manages the 24 SATA SSDs and supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 as well as pass-through mode. The controller connects via 12 Gb/s SAS and SATA interfaces. This single component determines the RAID capabilities and drive throughput available to the operating system.
