2U Rack Server for Virtualisation

The Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack server built for virtualisation and database workloads. It ships with dual Intel Gold 6126 processors, each running at 2.6GHz with twelve cores and 19.25M cache. A full complement of 256GB DDR4 memory is installed across sixteen 16GB modules operating at 2666 MT/s. The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch drive bays for storage expansion.

Storage Configuration with H730P RAID

Six 300GB 10K SAS drives are factory-installed behind a PERC H730P hardware RAID controller. This combination delivers low-latency block access for transactional applications and supports multiple RAID levels for data protection. Two drive bays remain open for additional capacity or a hot-spare configuration. The controller manages the array independently of the host CPUs.

Redundant Power and Remote Management

Dual 1100W redundant power supplies maintain uptime during a module failure or mains event. The iDRAC9 Enterprise remote-management module provides out-of-band console access, power control and firmware updates over a dedicated network interface. Integrated Intel X550 networking supplies two 10Gb RJ45 and two 1Gb RJ45 ports for data and management traffic.
