The Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 fits in a 2U rack space and runs two Intel Gold 6126 processors at 2.6 GHz with twelve cores each. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4 memory across four 16 GB modules supports dense virtual-machine workloads. Four 960 GB SAS SSDs on an H730P controller provide fast redundant storage for databases or hypervisor boots.

Sustained compute with redundant power

Dual 1100 W supplies keep both CPUs and all drive bays online during continuous multi-threaded jobs. The H730P cache and SAS interface maintain steady write throughput without the throttling seen on consumer drives. Eight 2.5 inch bays allow future capacity growth while the current SSD set handles mixed read-write streams.

PCIe Gen 3 and 10 Gb Ethernet limits
