This Dell PowerEdge R740 arrives with dual Gold 6132 processors, each delivering 14 cores at 2.6 GHz and 19.25M cache. The system includes 128 GB of DDR4 memory configured as eight 16 GB modules running at PC4-2666. Two 7.68 TB SAS SSDs are installed behind the H730P RAID controller, providing immediate high-capacity storage for virtualization or database workloads.

Thermal design and power

The 2U chassis houses an 1100 W redundant power supply that maintains operation if one module fails. Eight 2.5-inch drive bays allow airflow to reach the installed SSDs and any additional drives you add. Dual Intel Gold CPUs and the H730P controller draw steady power under typical enterprise loads while the integrated fan wall regulates temperatures without external liquid cooling.

Connectivity and expansion

Up to eight PCIe Gen 3 slots support additional network cards, accelerators or storage controllers as workloads grow. The NDC module supplies two 10 Gb RJ45 ports and two 1 Gb RJ45 ports for flexible network segmentation. iDRAC9 Enterprise enables remote power cycling, firmware updates and console access without a local keyboard or monitor. Rails and power cords are included for standard rack mounting.
