The Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 ships as a 2U rack unit with two Intel Gold 6126 processors at 2.6GHz, each providing 12 cores. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4 memory are installed across four 16GB modules running at 2666 MT/s. Four 300GB 10K SAS drives connect through an H730P RAID controller, while the chassis supports up to eight 2.5-inch bays for future expansion.

Redundant 1100W supply

Dual 1100W redundant power supplies share the load so fan speeds stay moderate during typical operation. The Intel X550 network daughter card adds two 10Gb RJ45 and two 1Gb RJ45 ports without extra cards. Remote management via iDRAC9 Enterprise lets administrators monitor temperatures and power draw from anywhere, reducing the need for physical checks.

Eight PCIe Gen 3 slots absorb sustained I/O pressure
