Dual Xeon Gold 6126 server

The Dell PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Gold 6126 processors running at 2.6GHz. Each CPU provides 12 cores and 19.25MB cache for multi-threaded workloads. It ships with 64GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory installed. The chassis supports up to eight 3.5-inch drive bays for high-capacity storage.

Build integration and expandability

The system includes a PERC H730P RAID controller that manages SATA drives across the eight front bays. Dual 750W power supplies deliver redundancy for continuous operation. An integrated 10GbE 2-port 562T adapter handles high-speed networking. iDRAC9 Enterprise provides remote management without consuming a PCIe slot.

Memory and storage headroom

Installed memory can be expanded to a maximum of 3TB using DDR4 modules across the available slots. The eight 3.5-inch bays accommodate large SATA hard drives for bulk data, though no drives are included. The dual-processor configuration is already at the maximum of two CPUs, so compute growth relies on memory and storage additions.
