The Dell PowerEdge R740xd 24SFF fits twenty-four 2.5-inch drives in a 2U rack frame. Dual Xeon Platinum 8268 processors provide forty-eight cores at 2.9 GHz for heavy database or virtualisation workloads. Two hundred fifty-six gigabytes of DDR4 ECC memory support large in-memory datasets. The PERC H730P controller manages RAID across the backplane.

Capacity scales to three terabytes

Installed memory sits at 256 GB with headroom to 3 TB across the available slots. The twenty-four drive bays accept SATA SSDs or HDDs for capacity or performance tiers. Integrated graphics handle console output only; no GPU compute is present. Ten-gigabit Ethernet via the 562T adapter feeds storage traffic to the network.

Rack-ready with remote management

The chassis measures 36 by 24 by 10 inches and weighs 40 units for standard cabinet mounting. Dual 1100 W supplies deliver redundancy for the fully populated configuration. iDRAC9 Enterprise enables out-of-band power control, console redirect and firmware updates without physical access. Rail kits are available on request for quick installation.
